Insecurity: IAWPA To Hold One Day International Mayors Of Peace Summit In Nigeria

THE International Association Of World Peace Advocates, IAWPA has announced that it will be holding a one day International Mayors’ of Peace Summit in Lagos, Nigeria.

Amb Emmanuel Nkweke, the International Spokesman of the association said in view of the security challenges facing the country today the, association will use this summit to enlighten Nigerians on the importance of peace in the growth and development of the country.

He highlighted the efforts put in place by the highly recognized peace advocacy group in reaching out to various persons and interest groups to push for peace as it is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The statement also said in its efforts to encourage and promote peace efforts of Nigerians, the association will be recognizing only two personalities with the award of the International Mayor of Peace Awards.

Those to be honoured are Chief Chidi Anyaegbu, the MD/CEO, Chisco Group of Companies and Chief Solomon Ogonna Aguene, President, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Lagos State. The two recipients will become the number 6th and 7th recipients of the award globally amongst others.

The invited guest speaker at the ceremony is Chief Mike Ozekhome, Senior Advocate of Nigeria who will deliver a lead paper on the “Relevance of Peaceful Co- existence in Democratic Development and Good Governance in Nigeria”.

According to Nkweke, both recipient of the awards will make their first appearance at the United Nations Headquarters during the UN Summit of the Future billed to hold on 22-23 Sept. 2024 adding that the event will be first of it’s kind as it is the 1st International Mayor of Peace Conference in Nigeria

The ceremony which will witness the attendance of the World Peace President Amb. Per Stafsen from the Kingdom of Denmark as Special Guest of Honour, will be chaired by Lord Mayor, High Chief, Peter Esievo.

Other personalities to grace the occasion include; His Royal Highness, Amb. Dr. Yahaya Abubakar, Etsu Nupe of Niger State, Amb. Barr. Aliyu Danhiru, a Global Diplomat and Amb. (Dr.) Omolola Mary Akindoyin-Ogunwusi, Wife of the Ooni of Ife in Osun State and host of other guests.
