THE Jigawa State Hisbah Board has distributed complete new uniform sets to 2,000 Hisbah personnel across the 27 local government areas of the state as part of efforts to strengthen the organisation and improve service delivery.
News Point Nigeria reports that the distribution exercise took place at the Board’s Permanent Headquarters in Dutse, where the Commandant General of the Board, Dr. Muhammad Fa’iz Bashir Haroun, said the initiative forms part of Governor Umar Namadi’s administration’s policy aimed at reshaping the Islamic organisation for greater efficiency and better service delivery.
Represented by the Deputy Commandant General, Dr. Hussain Yusuf Baban, the Commandant General explained that the newly distributed uniforms do not include the remaining 600 newly recruited personnel.
Dr. Muhammad Fa’iz Bashir expressed appreciation for the support and commitment shown to the Hisbah Board by Governor Umar Namadi, noting that the governor had also increased the monthly minimum allowance of Hisbah personnel from N6,000 to N25,000.
According to him, the continued support from the state government has significantly enhanced the welfare and operational capacity of the Board.
The Commandant General subsequently handed over the uniforms to Hisbah Zonal Commanders for onward distribution to personnel in their respective local government areas.
Speaking further, Dr. Fa’iz said the provision of the new uniforms should serve as a motivation for officers to remain committed to their duties.
“With this development, Hisbah officers are expected to be fully alert to their primary responsibilities as Islamic Guards to protect and defend the provisions of the law that established the Board,” he said.
The distribution ceremony was attended by the Secretary of the Board, Barrister Mustapha Habu, alongside other senior Hisbah officials.
Meanwhile, the passing-out parade of participants in a five-week training programme for Hisbah Guards also took place at the Hisbah Board Headquarters in Dutse.
The parade formed part of an intensive training programme designed by the Hisbah Command to ensure that personnel are fully conversant with their responsibilities as Islamic Guards of the Command.
Addressing the graduating guards, the Commandant General, Dr. Muhammad Fa’iz Bashir Haroun, accompanied by his deputies and other top officials of the Board, spoke extensively on issues relating to their welfare and the expectations required of them in order to strengthen the operations of Hisbah in Jigawa State.
He urged the officers to remain disciplined, dedicated and committed to the ideals and objectives of the Board while discharging their responsibilities.
Immediately after his address, the Commandant General inspected a guard of honour mounted by a detachment of the parade guards, marking the culmination of the training programme and the official passing-out ceremony.
