GOVERNOR Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress will record a landslide victory in the 2027 presidential election, insisting that no opposition candidate, including former President Goodluck Jonathan and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, can stop President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from securing re-election.
News Point Nigeria reports that Namadi made the remarks shortly after participating in the APC presidential primary election at his polling ward in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The governor reaffirmed his earlier pledge to deliver more than one million votes to President Tinubu in the 2027 general election, describing the target as “achievable” considering the level of support enjoyed by the APC in the state.
According to him, the massive turnout of party members during the presidential primary election reflected the confidence Nigerians, particularly Jigawa residents, have in President Tinubu and the APC-led administration.
“As you can see, people came out massively for Bola Ahmed Tinubu and this is a clear indication of the confidence the people have in him and in the APC,” Namadi said.
The governor stated that the orderly conduct of the APC primary election further demonstrated President Tinubu’s commitment to internal democracy and the democratic process.
“What is most important is internal democracy. The President allowed the democratic process to freely prevail and that shows he is a true democrat committed to the growth of democracy in Nigeria,” he stated.
Namadi also expressed optimism that the outcome of the APC primary election was a clear signal of what to expect during the 2027 general election, predicting victory for the ruling party at all levels.
“The result is glaring. By the grace of God, 2027 will be a walkover for APC because the people have confidence in the party and in the government,” the governor added.
He maintained that Jigawa State remained one of the strongest support bases of the APC in the country, noting that the state currently ranks among the highest in voter registration nationwide.
“You can see the number of people that came out. Jigawa is leading in voter registration, and that shows we are ready to achieve our target of over one million votes for the President,” Namadi stated.
Reacting to speculations that former President Jonathan may contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, the governor insisted that the APC was not threatened by any opposition figure.
“This is democracy. Anybody can contest, but when Nigerians decide, the result will be clear. APC is ready for any opposition, and by God’s grace, we will deliver President Tinubu again in 2027,” he declared.
