A SENATORIAL aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Plateau North Senatorial District has threatened legal action against the party following his alleged disqualification from the ongoing primary election process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The aspirant, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), made his position known in a letter dated May 18, 2026, and addressed to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress.
The letter, issued through the law firm of Gyang Zi, SAN & Co., protested his exclusion from the party’s Senate primary exercise and was titled: “Notice of Discontinuance with the Primary Election Processes for Plateau North Senatorial District and a Ten Billion Naira (N10,000,000,000.00) Demand Notice for Defamation of Character and Destabilization of My Supporters.”
According to the document, the aspirant stated that he had duly purchased and submitted his nomination and expression of interest forms and fulfilled all requirements necessary to participate in the APC primary election conducted on May 18, 2026.
He further alleged that his attention was later drawn to a publication circulated on social media, particularly on the APC’s official platform, where he was listed among aspirants “not cleared” to contest the primary election without any explanation from the party.
The legal practitioner described the action as damaging to his reputation and political standing, insisting that the publication amounted to defamation and created confusion among his supporters.
He also maintained that the development compelled him to withdraw from the primary election process while demanding N10 billion in damages from the party over what he termed reputational injury and political destabilisation.
The incident has added to the growing controversies surrounding the APC primaries in Plateau State, as several aspirants continue to raise concerns over the conduct and transparency of the process ahead of the 2027 elections.
