FORMER Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, on Wednesday, met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Anyim served as the 9th President of the Senate from 2000 to 2003 and was Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) during Goodluck Jonathan’s presidency.
Recently, he dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Accompanying Anyim to meet with Tinubu were the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, and Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the former SGF said he joined the ruling party to contribute his quota towards the country’s development.
He said he was committed to Nigeria’s progress, stating, “There is a need that we all should put hands together to move the country forward.”
“I have a determination to be sure that the country moves on the right path and I should be available to contribute my quota.
“Contributing quota does not necessarily mean to work but to engender a conducive atmosphere for progress, I am not looking for work.
“But there is a need that given the challenges the country is facing today, we all need to put all hands on deck to make the country move forward.
“The country is passing through turbulent times and it is the duty of all patriots to ensure a peaceful atmosphere,” he said.
