PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu will arrive in Kano State on Friday (tomorrow), July 19, 2025, on a condolence visit to the government, people, and family of the late Alhaji Aminu Dantata, one of Nigeria’s most respected elder statesmen, philanthropists, and industrial pioneers.
The visit was confirmed in a press statement issued on Thursday by the spokesperson to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
President Tinubu’s visit follows the recent passing of Alhaji Aminu Dantata, a revered national figure whose influence spanned business, philanthropy, and public service.
Dantata died two weeks ago at the age of 93 after a long and impactful life dedicated to commerce, community development, and humanitarian work across Nigeria and beyond.
The President is expected to meet with the Dantata family, as well as offer official condolences to Governor Abba Yusuf and key traditional and religious leaders in the state.
According to the statement, Governor Yusuf expressed deep appreciation for the President’s show of solidarity, describing the visit as “a powerful symbol of national unity and shared grief,” particularly at a time when the state and the country are mourning the loss of a man who embodied dignity, discipline, and generosity.
“This is a moment of solemn reflection and national respect.
“I call on all Kano residents to receive the President warmly and in an orderly manner as we honour the memory of one of Nigeria’s finest elder statesmen,” Governor Yusuf said.
He noted that Alhaji Dantata’s death was not just a loss to Kano or the North, but to the entire country, as his legacy continues to shape lives through his extensive philanthropic efforts, business mentorship, and unwavering commitment to national progress.
Governor Yusuf assured that the state government has made adequate arrangements to ensure the President’s visit is conducted in a peaceful and dignified atmosphere.
“We have worked with relevant security agencies and community stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination throughout the President’s stay,” the governor’s office stated.
Large crowds are expected to welcome the President, whose visit is being seen by many as a mark of respect for a man whose name became synonymous with humility, nation-building, and service.
Alhaji Aminu Dantata was the last surviving member of the historic Dantata business dynasty of Kano.
He was key contributor to several national initiatives during his lifetime.
His philanthropic footprint spans education, healthcare, and support for displaced persons.
He was widely regarded as a father figure to multiple generations of business leaders and a trusted voice in regional and national affairs.
As tributes continue to pour in from across the country and beyond, President Tinubu’s condolence visit is seen as both a personal and official gesture, underscoring the national weight of Dantata’s legacy and the importance of preserving his memory for future generations.
