RIVERS State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reassured citizens that his administration will continue to act in their best interest and strengthen the bond between the government and the people.
News Point Nigeria reports that Fubara gave the assurance on Friday shortly after arriving at the Government House, Port Harcourt, following a triumphant reception at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, where a massive crowd turned out to welcome him back to the state capital.
The governor, visibly moved by the show of solidarity, described the rousing welcome as a powerful statement of love, confidence, and unity from the people of Rivers State.
“Let me first of all appreciate the wonderful people of Rivers State. I’m really humbled by what I saw at the Airport. I was briefed on some photographs of what happened here yesterday. That reception really humbled me,” Fubara said.
According to Fubara, the warm reception was more than just a welcome gesture, it was a reaffirmation of the people’s faith in his government and its policies.
“It showed love, confidence, and solidarity. I want to say that it is not just the celebration, the massive reception by the number of people who came out to celebrate, but the display and reaffirmation of the bond between this government and the people that we are serving,” he added.
The governor promised that his administration would continue to pursue policies and programmes that reflect the will and aspirations of the people.
“I want to assure you that we will, by the grace of God, continue to do those things that have made you love us. I want to appreciate everyone and say that we love you, but God loves you more,” he said.
Governor Fubara also announced plans to deliver a statewide broadcast at 6pm, where he is expected to express his gratitude to stakeholders, leaders, and citizens who contributed to restoring calm and normalcy in the state amid recent political tension.
“We are going to address the state officially by 6 p.m., and in that broadcast, we will appreciate everyone that brought normalcy to this state,” he said.
Fubara’s comments come against the backdrop of recent political developments in Rivers State, which have drawn national attention.
Inside sources say the governor’s message was aimed at reassuring residents of his administration’s commitment to stability, inclusive governance, and the protection of the people’s mandate.
