KANO Head of Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, has pledged to operate an open-door policy to strengthen the state civil service, reaffirming her commitment to institutional reforms, transparency, and inclusiveness in governance.
News Point Nigeria reports that Maimote made the pledge when the members of the 1992/93 Class of the College of Arts, Science and Remedial Studies (CAS), Kano, paid her a courtesy visit at office to congratulate her on the appointment, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of her years of service, dedication, and professionalism within the Kano State civil service.
The visit brought together several alumni who expressed delight at her elevation, noting that her track record in public service reflects competence and commitment to duty.
While receiving the delegation, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota appreciated the gesture and commended the group for sustaining a spirit of unity and solidarity over the years. She described the visit as more than a formal engagement, portraying it as a reunion of old colleagues who have grown through shared experiences.
She used the opportunity to reiterate her resolve to pursue meaningful reforms within the civil service, stressing that her leadership would be anchored on openness and collaboration.
According to her, the administration will adopt an open-door policy designed to encourage constructive engagement, promote transparency, and ensure inclusiveness in decision-making processes.
“I remain committed to an open-door policy that welcomes constructive advice and contributions towards strengthening the efficiency and productivity of the Kano State civil service,” she stated.
The Head of Service further praised members of the 1992/93 set for their professional achievements, observing that many have advanced to occupy key leadership positions such as Permanent Secretaries and Directors. She described this development as a testament to the quality of the institution and the strength of its graduates.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Malam Lawan Ado explained that the visit was primarily to formally congratulate the Head of Service and to offer prayers for wisdom and divine guidance as she undertakes the responsibilities of her new office.
Also contributing, the Chairman of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Kano State Chapter, Aliyu Yusuf, who is also a member of the class, commended her leadership qualities, noting that she has continued to receive widespread recognition for diligence and commitment since assuming office.
The visit was rounded off with the presentation of a commemorative souvenir to the Head of Service, followed by a group photograph to mark the occasion, symbolising continued unity and support for her leadership.
