FORMER Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Baba Tela, has been thrown into mourning following the death of two of his children, Mustapha and Ummi, in a fatal road crash along the Bauchi-Azare Road.
News Point Nigeria reports that the siblings lost their lives on Saturday while returning from Azare. Other occupants of the vehicle sustained varying degrees of injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.
The victims reportedly died instantly following the impact of the crash.
Their bodies were subsequently evacuated to a hospital in Bauchi, where they were confirmed dead.
The funeral prayer for the deceased was held at the Bauchi Emir’s Palace and was attended by hundreds of Muslim faithful, sympathisers, family members and well-wishers.
They were later laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.
Reacting to the tragedy, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, said he received the news with profound shock and sadness, describing the incident as a painful tragedy that has cast a shadow of grief over the state.
The governor said the death of the two siblings was not only a devastating blow to Senator Baba Tela and his family but also a painful loss to the people of Bauchi State.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, Governor Mohammed prayed that Almighty Allah grant the deceased eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus and bless their family with the strength, fortitude and patience to bear the painful loss.
He urged the bereaved family to take solace in the will of Almighty Allah, reminding them that every soul shall return to its Creator at the appointed time.
The governor also sympathised with those who sustained injuries in the accident and prayed for their quick and full recovery.
He further called on the people of Bauchi State to remember the deceased in their prayers and to ask Almighty Allah to comfort the bereaved family during this difficult period.
