CRISTIANO Ronaldo and his long-time partner Georgina Rodriguez married on Tuesday, according to the Portuguese football superstar’s representatives.
Ronaldo, 41, shared a photo of the couple’s hands with their wedding bands and the caption: “C (heart) G” on his Instagram account.
The ceremony took place in the Portuguese coastal resort of Cascais, near Lisbon, the Brunswick Group managing the player’s public relations told AFP.
Their five children attended the “private and intimate” ceremony, the agency added.
The couple tied the knot exactly one year after Rodriguez, a 32-year-old influencer, announced their engagement on Instagram.
Ronaldo, who played for Portugal at the World Cup this summer, currently plays for Saudi club Al-Nassr.
The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus forward won the Ballon d’Or for the world’s best player five times.
The two reportedly met for the first time at a Gucci boutique in Madrid, where Georgina was working as a sales assistant. Ronaldo was playing for La Liga giants Real Madrid at the time. Days later, they met again at a brand event, where they were able to talk in a more relaxed environment outside her work hours.
In November 2017, Georgina gave birth to their daughter, Alana Martina. Months prior, Ronaldo had welcomed twins Mateo and Eva Maria via surrogate, whom Georgina embraced fully as part of their growing household alongside Ronaldo Jr.
The Portuguese stalwart, who is the record goalscorer in international football with 146 strikes to his name for Portugal, has won the Ballon d’Or 5 times. He was recently seen in action for the national team in his record-tying sixth World Cup.
However, it wasn’t a campaign that Ronaldo or Portugal would like to remember for a long time.
On the club level, Ronaldo plays for Saudi Pro League team Al Nassr. He is expected to start the domestic season on Saturday.
