THE academia has recognised exceptional professionalism in military information management, with The Academy of Management Nigeria (TAMN) nominating the Immediate Past Media and Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Tsafe Uba, for its Distinguished Award for the Best Media and Information Officer in Reporting Military Operational Successes in the Fight Against Terrorism and Insurgency in Nigeria.
News Point Nigeria reports that the nomination was contained in a special invitation letter dated September 16, 2026, signed by the President of the Academy, Professor Samaila Mande, FAMN, and addressed to the Theatre Commander, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, with attention to Lieutenant Colonel ST Uba.
The nomination followed a careful consideration of Lt Col Uba’s headquarters accomplishments during his tenure as Media and Information Officer (MIO), Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (HQ JTF NE OPHK).
TAMN, which is domiciled at the National Secretariat, Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Benin, Benin City, stated that the award was in recognition of his exceptional professionalism, dedication and outstanding contribution to military media and strategic information management.
The Academy noted that, in that capacity, Lt Col Uba distinguished himself through the effective documentation, coordination and dissemination of credible information on the operational activities and successes of the JTF NE Theatre.
It further stated that his professional engagements with the media and other relevant and critical stakeholders contributed significantly to ensuring that the achievements of the Armed Forces of Nigeria in the fight against terrorism and insurgency were accurately communicated, properly contextualised and brought to the attention of the Nigerian public and the international community.
“Your efforts further contributed to strengthening public understanding of the military’s counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations, highlighting the courage and sacrifices of troops, projecting operational successes and reinforcing public confidence in the commitment and capacity of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to safeguard the nation,” the letter stated.
TAMN also commended his professional discipline, responsiveness, effective media engagement and consistent commitment to factual and timely operational reporting, noting that he demonstrated the strategic importance of the MIO as a critical link between military operations, the media and the Nigerian public.
The Academy described his tenure as MIO-OPHK as a commendable contribution to the broader information effort in support of ongoing counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations.
It added that the recognition was intended not only to celebrate his individual accomplishment, but also to acknowledge the professionalism and dedication required to effectively communicate the operational efforts and sacrifices of troops serving in the Theatre.
The Distinguished Award was subsequently conferred during the Dinner and Award Night of the 2026 Annual International Conference of the Academy, held on September 24, 2026, at the National Open University of Nigeria, Abuja.
The theme of the conference was “Business Resilient Systems and Inclusive Growth for National Transformation.”
The Academy said the occasion provided an opportunity to formally recognise Lt Col Uba’s distinguished contribution to military information operations and his role in projecting the operational successes of the Armed Forces of Nigeria during his tenure in the North East Theatre.
