BUA Group has dissociated itself from a viral AI-generated video circulating on social media that allegedly promotes an investment scheme and falsely features its Founder and Executive Chairman, Abdulsamad Rabiu.
The company said the video, which has been widely shared across various social media platforms, promises “unrealistic investment returns” and appears designed to mislead members of the public into participating in a fraudulent scheme.
The disclaimer was contained in a statement published on Monday through the group’s official social media channels.
In the statement, BUA Group stressed that it has no connection whatsoever to the content and is not associated in any form with the platform behind the purported investment opportunity or any of its claims.
The company stated that “neither our Founder/Executive Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, BUA Group nor any of our subsidiaries, is in any way or by any means associated/connected with this platform nor its purported investment promise.”
According to the group, the video was deliberately and falsely constructed to create the impression that the company and its founder had endorsed the investment platform.
BUA consequently urged members of the public to completely disregard the content and avoid being misled by the claims being circulated.
The company further warned individuals against engaging with any platform or person promoting “unrealistic returns in reference to the platform or its campaign,” noting that such schemes are frequently used by fraudsters to deceive unsuspecting victims.
It also advised the public to report any such suspicious content or activities to the relevant law enforcement agencies for appropriate action.
BUA Group said the incident appears to be part of a growing trend of AI-generated impersonation scams in which fraudsters exploit the identities of prominent public figures and reputable corporate brands to gain credibility and lure potential victims into fraudulent investment schemes.
The company reiterated that neither it nor any of its subsidiaries is connected to the platform in question and urged the public to remain vigilant against emerging forms of digital fraud driven by artificial intelligence and impersonation tactics.
