GOVERNOR of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, will lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 2025 Annual Meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF), which begin on Monday, October 13, in Washington, D.C., United States.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga received by News Point Nigeria, the CBN Governor will be representing Nigeria as the Alternate Governor at the global financial summit.
Mr. Cardoso is leading the team in place of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, who is said to be indisposed and therefore unable to attend this year’s sessions.
Joining the delegation is the Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, alongside top officials from the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank, and other relevant government institutions.
The statement further noted that, according to the World Bank, the 2025 Annual Meetings will feature several high-level engagements aimed at shaping the direction of the global economy, international development, and financial market stability.
The key highlights include the Development Committee Plenary Session scheduled for October 16, and the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) meeting on October 17.
Other sessions will focus on regional economic briefings, press conferences, and policy discussions involving global financial leaders, development experts, and private-sector stakeholders.
The meetings are expected to bring together central bank governors, finance ministers, development partners, and global investors from over 190 member countries, all seeking to review the performance of the global economy and deliberate on the path toward inclusive growth and financial resilience.
