THE National Programme Manager for the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) under the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), Hamza Ibrahim Baba has highlighted the importance of agricultural investment and grassroots empowerment during the Farmer Money Stakeholders Engagement Programme held in Ondo State.
News Point Nigeria reprots that the programme, organised and coordinated by the Government of Ondo State in collaboration with National Social Investment Programme Agency and Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), is aimed at expanding access to financial support and economic opportunities for farmers and small-scale agribusiness owners.
The GEEP boss said it was a “distinct privilege” to represent the agency at the engagement, describing the initiative as an important step toward improving livelihoods in the agricultural sector.
According to the official, investing in agriculture means investing in “the strength of our communities, the security of our food systems, and the dignity of work,” stressing that empowering farmers remains one of the most effective ways to reduce poverty, create jobs, and build a more inclusive and resilient economy.
The official also expressed appreciation to Hon. Princess Kikelomo Ikuomola, Special Adviser to the Governor of Ondo State on Public and Intergovernmental Relations, for her “steadfast commitment” to ensuring that federal intervention programmes reach the grassroots and make meaningful impact in the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
He further commended the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for what he described as thoughtful leadership and unwavering dedication to policies supporting farmers, strengthening rural communities, and advancing agricultural development across the state.
The statement also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that his Renewed Hope Agenda continues to expand opportunities and empower citizens across the country.
It added that the future of Nigeria will not only be shaped in urban centres but also in farms and villages, driven by the determination of men and women who feed the nation. It stressed that supporting farmers today is essential to securing a more prosperous tomorrow for all Nigerians.
