NO fewer than 68 passengers escaped death on Thursday after an Enugu Airlines aircraft crash-landed at the Benin Airport in Edo State.
News Point Nigeria gathered that the aircraft, with registration number 5N-ENR, had 68 passengers on board, apart from the crew members, when the incident occurred.
A source at the Benin Airport, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the aircraft was operating an Enugu-Benin-Lagos commercial flight when it crash-landed.
The source further revealed that the aircraft overshot the runway and eventually entered a nearby bush.
“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) immediately swung into action, and all the passengers were evacuated. No casualty was recorded,” the source said.
The source added that all necessary emergency response measures were activated following the incident, leading to the safe evacuation of the passengers.
However, the source could not disclose the exact number of crew members aboard the aircraft at the time of the incident.
Authorities are expected to provide further details on the circumstances surrounding the runway overshoot and the condition of the aircraft.
