Kwankwaso, Aregbesola Meet In Lagos, Set For Alliances Ahead Of 2027

TWO prominent politicians, Rauf Aregbesola and Rabiu Kwankwaso, could form alliances and work together against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election.

This is as the two politicians meet today in Lagos to discuss the modalities of such merger.

Sources at the meeting told this newspaper that Kwankwaso, the national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) was in Lagos on Saturday, where the the two leaders had a meeting that lasted for more than two hours.

Although details was was not released to the media, but the sources said it was in preparation of Aregbesola and his supporters joining the NNPP.

In recent days there have been speculation in the media that Aregbesola and his supporters may join the NNPP ahead of next year’s gubernatorial election in Osun State.

Aregbesola, a former governor of Osun State was recently expelled from the APC after falling-out with President Bola Tinubu and his successor in Osun, Gboyega Oyetola, who is the current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.

Another NNPP source told News Point Nigeria that Kwankwaso will have another meeting with a prominent South-East politician, who is also expected to join the NNPP with Aregbesola.
