Madagali Traditional Chieftain Dies At 72

THE Turakin Madagali, of the Madagali Royal Council in Adamawa State, His Highness, Alhaji Abubakar Umaru Yuguda, is dead.

The traditional chieftain died aged 72, after he slumped on Friday during the Jummaat congregational prayer.

The monarch, who is survived by four wives, 17 children and 5 grandchildren, was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Yola, in Jimeta, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel on arrival.

In a statement issued on early hour of Saturday morning by the Shettiman Madagali, Alhaji Wali Yakubu Esq, on behalf of the District Head of Madagali Yerima Bakura Iya Gaji and the entire members of the council, he said, the Turakin Madagali was the Local government party chairman of the All Progressive Congress.

The statement reads in full: “It is with sublime submission to the will of Allah and a very heavy heart that, on behalf of the District Head of Madagali Yerima Bakura Iya Gaji and the entire members of the council, I announce the demise of our father, the Turakin Madagali, Alhaji Abubakar Umaru Yuguda.

“He died after he slumped  during the Jummat congregational prayer and was rushed to Federal Medical Centre, Yola, where the medical personnel pronounced him dead. He has since been buried according to Islamic rites in Yola.

“The Turakin Madagali died at the age of 72, he was survived by four wives, 17 children and five grand children.

“Until his demise, the Turakin Madagali was the Local government party chairman of the All Progressive Congress, a devoted community leader, and great mobilizer for a good cause.

“During his lifetime, he influenced, a great deal,  the pursuit of equity and good conscience by all that he met and interacted with.

May Allah grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. Aameen Ya Rabb.”
