THE Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Jigawa State Council, has congratulated Governor Umar Namadi on his third anniversary in office, applauding his administration for what it described as people-oriented governance and impactful reforms that have positively transformed the state.
In a statement sent to News Point Nigeria and signed by the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Ismail Ibrahim Dutse, the Union commended the governor for recording remarkable achievements in key sectors including food security, infrastructure development, education, agriculture, and the sustenance of peace and security across Jigawa State.
The NUJ noted that Governor Namadi’s leadership had continued to inspire confidence among residents through policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare and living conditions of citizens across the state.
According to the statement, the Council was particularly impressed by the administration’s achievements in strengthening food security and expanding agricultural development, while also maintaining relative peace and stability in different parts of the state.
The Union further commended Governor Namadi for lifting the over two-decade employment embargo in Jigawa State, describing the move as bold, timely, and beneficial to thousands of families.
The NUJ stated that the decision paved the way for massive recruitment exercises across several sectors, thereby creating employment opportunities for many youths and qualified professionals who had waited years for government jobs.
It also praised the administration for prioritising workers’ welfare through the prompt payment of salaries, gratuities, and monthly pensions, noting that the efforts had improved morale within the civil service and provided relief for retirees.
The Council described the government’s over ₦12 billion investment in the Contributory Pension Scheme as a landmark intervention aimed at securing the future of retirees and strengthening confidence in the state’s pension structure.
While acknowledging the progress made within the last three years, the NUJ encouraged the governor to remain focused on addressing existing socio-economic challenges confronting the state.
The Union expressed confidence that history would remember the Namadi administration as a government that promoted sustainable growth, inclusive governance, and community-driven policies aimed at improving the lives of the people.
The Council also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration between the media and the Jigawa State Government in promoting transparency, accountability, and socio-economic development across the state.
