FOLLOWING the expiration of his second tenure, the Provost of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies, Kano, Prof. Balarabe Abubakar Jakada (Majidadin Kauran Katsina), has formally handed over the affairs of the College to the Deputy Provost (Academics), Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az.
The development was disclosed in a statement sent to News Point Nigeria by the Protocol and Public Relations Directorate of the College on Saturday.
The handover ceremony took place at the Majidadin Kauran Katsina Conference Hall of the College in the presence of Principal Officers and members of the College Management Committee.
Before the outgoing Provost delivered his address, the Registrar of the College, Hajiya Raliya Aliyu Abubakar, presented her remarks in what was described as an emotionally laden voice, noting that the occasion was both difficult and memorable.
She described Prof. Jakada as a visionary leader whose immense contributions would continue to shine in the annals of the College’s history.
In separate goodwill messages, leaders of the various trade unions within the College, alongside other members of staff, commended the numerous achievements recorded during Prof. Jakada’s tenure in office.
Speaking during the ceremony, the outgoing Provost expressed appreciation to the management, staff and students of the institution for the cooperation and support extended to him throughout his eight-year tenure.
Prof. Jakada, who was described as the longest-serving Provost of the institution, stated that the handover notes contain a comprehensive report of his administration, along with recommendations aimed at enhancing the growth and development of the College.
The outgoing Provost explained that his administration initiated several policies and programmes targeted at improving productivity and the overall performance of the institution.
“I am happy to inform you that we have successfully secured the audited accounts of the College from 2017 to 2024,” Prof. Jakada said.
He further disclosed that auditors are currently working on the College accounts for 2025 and subsequent years.
Prof. Jakada also urged the Acting Provost to sustain the current pace of academic excellence, discipline and institutional development within the College.
He commended the commitment and dedication demonstrated by members of the College community toward the institution’s growth and progress, stressing that the achievements recorded during his administration were made possible through collective effort and teamwork among staff members.
In his remarks, the Acting Provost, Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az, thanked the outgoing Provost for his leadership qualities, mentorship and immense contributions to the development of the institution.
He assured the management and staff of his commitment to sustaining the achievements recorded under Prof. Jakada’s administration in order to ensure the smooth running of the College.
The ceremony, according to the statement, marked another important milestone in the annals of the College’s history.
