Let’s Go Down Memory Lane…(2) – By Hafsat Salisu Kabara

What baffles me more is the choice of minister of defense, but what do I know?

    NEW UBA

See that first protest that was between the government and hoodlums? Another will strike again, by kidnapped victims and their families or rather more kidnappings since it’s the new found business and the culprits are going free.

    NNAMDI

Nigerians finished protesting and BAT saw how weak the protest was and slapped us with another price hike for wasting his time.

In the midst of all the chaos happening, people were still mourning the brutal killing of Emir of Gobir because everyone saw his video pleading with Nigerians to come to his rescue. Nothing was done but Sokoto state governor is busy arresting aides for taking a video of his wife and calling magnanimous amount for borehole repair, sorry I meant new boreholes for billions.

In a disturbed and uncertain state, aides are being sacked and detained for allegedly leaking their employers “moment of enjoyment “ clips. When people are dying of hunger, kidnapped, snatched from their homes, this is all these people could think of, how sad!

What are they hiding? If everyone is happy, who cares about theirs? They should dance till eternity, we don’t care. But you don’t expect the people to give you accolades for dancing and having fun while they are suffering.

A country where you can’t be protected, the people are now being told to adopt proactive measures to protect themselves against bandit attacks ravaging the state. Is this a joke? The government can’t do nothing. Wonderful! That’s the story of Katsina.

Well, that’s self defense. At this point, even if you are not being told, you definitely will start taking measures to defend yourself. VIPS are snatched and nothing is being done, and you all think you are safe?

I quote what a governor said “What humiliation! A situation where you stand idly watching while your wife or daughter is being raped? What is the essence of you being alive thereafter? Death is more honourable than some kinds of humiliation”

Nigerian TAX Reform - Federal Goverment

Which is true as sad as it sounds. Logically, the government can’t/wont help you.

They say – Nigeria is going through reforms, and are taking very bold and unprecedented decisions. What reforms exactly? Aren’t we supposed to start seeing the results? Like a little ray of hope?

This slap came amidst the scarcity of petrol as well as the worsening inflation that has subjected Nigerians to further hardship.

At his Beijing meeting,Tinubu defended the decision, saying hard decisions are crucial to economic prosperity.. swears we don’t see an atom of prosperity, people feel strangled.

The N70,000 minimum wage that is yet to be implemented is what those at the top want to squeeze out of the people. my thoughts right now.

Another sad reality is how we keep adjusting to the sufferings. After all the screams and complaints, we still queue to buy. Sometimes we can’t help it, can’t go without food and other basic necessities. You won’t even spend recklessly, you’ll cover basic things like transportation, feeding, data and clothing, and it’ll still feel like you mismanaged your money. We are just going in circles, no direction.

Students are taking over the country next week to protest against the hardships, this is not hoodlums protest, they are educated and they know their rights.

This is social media generation, SORO-SOKE Generation, even if they are killed, jailed, brutalized, as usual but the WORLD SEES and I am afraid what this outcome will be. Remember End SARS protest? This is the pro max if care is not taken.

    I rest my case.
