GOMBE State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has reiterated his resolve to strengthen democratic governance by responding to the genuine aspirations of the people, pledging his support for the quest of Yamaltu -Deba stakeholders to produce the next Senator for Gombe Central in 2027.
The Governor stated this while receiving a broad-based delegation from Yamaltu – Deba Local Government Area, comprising traditional and community leaders, politicians across party lines, technocrats, as well as youth and women groups during a courtesy visit to the Government House in Gombe.
The delegation, sought his support in actualizing their demand for equitable representation in the Gombe Central Senatorial District.
In response to their unanimous request, Governor Inuwa Yahaya assured the delegation that their demand would be handled with positive disposition.
“I assure you that I will take the necessary steps to ensure that you get equity, fairness and justice; not only in your LGA, but across Gombe State and indeed Nigeria. By the grace of God, this time around, your aspiration will receive a positive outcome all the way,” the Governor stated.
He emphasized that democracy must reflect the will and interests of the people, noting that inclusivity remains a core principle of governance.
“Democracy is a government of the people, by the people and for the people. In strengthening our democratic culture, we have embraced a rotational understanding that ensures every group feels included”.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya stressed that both the government and the ruling party share in the legitimacy of the request, describing it as valid and well-founded.
“As a government and a party, we are equally aligned with your position. Your request is justified, and I will ensure it receives the attention it deserves. I am particularly encouraged that you have formally documented your appeal, addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is the leader of our party, as well as to the National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda ” he said.
Drawing parallels with past political developments in the state, the Governor recalled the trajectory of the Gombe South Senatorial seat, where unity of purpose and adherence to democratic principlesshaped outcomes.
He urged the Yamaltu – Deba community to remain steadfast, united and law-abiding in their pursuit.
Earlier in their separate remarks, key leaders of the delegation, including the Member representing Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency, Hon. Inuwa Garba; Members of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Adamu Pata (Yamaltu East) and Hon. Muhammad Kabir Kuri (Deba Constituency); the Chairman of Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Council, Abubakar Hassan Difa; as well as the Emirs of Yamaltu and Deba, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu and QS Ahmed Usman respectively made a strong case for the rotation of the Gombe Central Senatorial seat to Yamaltu/Deba.
They argued that the seat has remained in Akko Local Government Area for an extended period, making a compelling case for equity, fairness and inclusivity in the distribution of political opportunities in the senatorial district.
