THE Presidency has distanced itself from the purported appointment of one Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi by an organisation identified as the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, describing the claim as false and misleading.
In a statement sent to News Point Nigeria from the State House on Thursday, the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, said the alleged organisation was neither recognised by the Federal Government nor in existence under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Gbajabiamila said the attention of the Federal Government and specifically the Office of the Chief of Staff had been drawn to activities involving Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who was allegedly presenting himself to the public as a person appointed by the Presidency through the purported council.
“It has come to the notice of the Federal Government of Nigeria and specifically the Office of the Chief of Staff to His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR that a certain Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, under the auspices of an alleged organisation styled as the ‘Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council’ is portraying himself to the general public, as having been appointed by my office,” the statement read.
The Presidency, however, categorically denied any such appointment and clarified that no office bearing that name exists within the current administration.
“The unsuspecting public is hereby advised to note that such an office does not exist under this administration and no appointment has been made in that regard,” the statement added.
The Chief of Staff further urged foreign and diplomatic missions, financial institutions, multilateral organisations, development partners, security agencies and members of the public to take note of the disclaimer and disregard any claims suggesting official recognition or appointment by the Presidency.
The statement serves as a formal clarification by the Federal Government, warning stakeholders against dealing with individuals or organisations falsely claiming affiliation with the Presidency or acting under non-existent government structures.
