A CHIEFTAIN of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and son of former Late Kano state governor Sabo Bakin Zuwo, Honourable Farouk Sabo Bakin Zuwo, has called on the security agencies in the state to as a matter of urgency, stop the disturbing use of thugs at public places by the presidential and guber candidates of the NNPP, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and Engineer Abba Yusuf.
According to Bakin Zuwo, the airport is a security area, stressing that a slight derail can result into a serious security breach, and that is tantamount to tarnishing the good image of the state and nation as a whole.
In a statement issued to newsmen on Monday, Bakin Zuwo laments that if the advice offered to stop the duo from moving with thugs into the airport and other public places is not heeded, it could lead to an brewing confrontation between men and officers working at the airport and the thugs.
Noting that, the political thugs have no regard for established protocols and as such they easily break them.
Bakin Zuwo noted that, it’s no surprise that innocent travellers are always sacred around these thugs and most people don’t feel comfortable at the airport whenever a politician like that arrives or departs.
He further sighted an example with the instance of the attitude exhibited by thugs of the NNPP gubernatorial candidate to the wife of the Director General of DSS on Sunday at the airport, according to him, that could be understood to be a planned intimidation by Kwankwasiyya loyalists on government and security officials.
Farouk recalled many scenarios that involved Kwankwaso supporters intimidating top government officials at the Airport in Kano including the Minister of the Digital Economy, Professor Isa Pantami, former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido and Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje among others.
According to him, security personnel need to immediately commence a probe into this unpleasant situation planned by the supporter of the NNPP Presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso before things escalate.
He said those involved in Kwankwasiyya manhandling at the airport were innocent citizens of the country and security agencies need to take action to avoid a repeat.
Faruk counselled the NNPP candidates, that this is totally a wrong time to go about intimidating the good people of the state, as that doesn’t speak well of the party’s concern for the well being of the people.
“Intimidation and scaring of citizens will further discredit a party in the eyes of voters rather than uplift it” he concluded.
