STANLEY Nwabali could be set for a move to East Africa, with Simba Sports Club among the clubs showing firm interest in the Nigeria international goalkeeper, according to Footy-Africa.
Sources within the region told News Point Nigeria Sport that Simba have already made initial enquiries about the 28-year-old shot stopper, who is currently a free agent after leaving Chippa United earlier this year.
East African-based football agent, Edgah Mitemah, confirmed that the Tanzanian side are actively searching for reinforcement in the goalkeeping department, with Nwabali emerging as one of the leading options.
“They are looking to strengthen in that position, and he is one of the names under consideration,” Mitemah said.
“Given his experience and recent performances, he would be a strong addition to the league,” he added.
However, Simba may face stiff competition in the race for the Super Eagles goalkeeper, as domestic rivals Azam FC are also reportedly monitoring the situation.
South African giants Kaizer Chiefs are equally understood to have maintained a long-standing interest in the Nigerian international.
Nwabali has remained without a club since February after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract with Chippa United midway through the season.
Despite reported transfer links involving clubs in Saudi Arabia and South Africa, no move has materialised so far.
The goalkeeper’s profile rose significantly following his impressive performances for the Nigeria national football team at the recent Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria finished in third place.
His display during the tournament had sparked expectations of a move to a more high-profile league, but the former Chippa United goalkeeper is still weighing his options as transfer interest continues to build ahead of the new season.
With several clubs reportedly circling and no transfer fee required for his services, the coming weeks are expected to be decisive in determining the next chapter of Nwabali’s career.
