THE wife of the Niger State Governor, Hajiya Fatima Mohammed Bago, has been decorated as the Grand Matron of the Niger State Chapter of the Business Women of Influence for Renewed Hope Agenda (BWI/RHA).
The decoration, which took place in Minna, was performed by the State Coordinator of the support group, Mary Noel Berje, who said Hajiya Fatima Bago earned the recognition because of her track record and commitment to women’s development and empowerment in the state, News Point Nigeria reports.
The statement announcing the decoration was signed by Rose Nnatasa Jiya, Media Director, Niger BWI/RHA.
Mrs Berje explained that Business Women of Influence for Renewed Hope Agenda is a platform established by Dr Ngozi Oyewole, who is the Director-General and Convener, to mobilise, empower and project women entrepreneurs and professionals, as well as promote and advance the ideals and vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
She disclosed that the Niger State Chapter is currently conducting a Community Skills Census across the 25 Local Government Areas of the state to identify and document the skills and entrepreneurial capacities of women.
The State Coordinator said the data would also help the organisation identify areas where women require support, including skills acquisition, access to finance, mentorship, market opportunities and capacity building.
She stressed that the ultimate goal is to promote women’s economic independence and contribute to the development of the state.
Responding, the State Grand Matron, Hajiya Fatima Mohammed Bago, appreciated the organisation for finding her worthy of the position and expressed her readiness to partner with the BWI/RHA.
She urged the group to focus on programmes that would have meaningful and measurable impact on the lives of women, particularly those at the grassroots.
