A TRADITIONAL ruler and philanthropist, the Kauran Saminaka, Alhaji Umar Adamkolo Umar, has appealed to Nigerian youths to serve as vanguards for a more peaceful and prosperous society wherever they find themselves.
News Point Nigeria reports that Umar made the appeal in Kano during his investiture as the Grand Patron of the Democratic Youth Assembly of Nigeria and the presentation of a Peace Ambassador plate number in recognition of his contributions to peace, youth empowerment and community development.
The traditional ruler urged young people, particularly students, to remain law-abiding, concentrate on their studies and embrace entrepreneurship and vocational skills as they strive towards a self-sustaining future.
He stressed the need for youths to play constructive roles in nation-building by promoting harmony and contributing positively to the development of their communities.
Umar also commended the Democratic Youth Assembly of Nigeria for conferring the honour on him, noting that the recognition would inspire him to continue supporting the less privileged in society.
He pledged to assist the organisation both morally and financially to enable it achieve its objectives and sustain its efforts towards youth empowerment and national development.
Presenting the award, the President of the Democratic Youth Assembly of Nigeria, Ambassador Zaharaddeen Yahaya, said the honour was bestowed purely on merit and in recognition of Kauran Saminaka’s commitment to promoting unity, peaceful coexistence and humanitarian activities across the country.
According to Yahaya, the organisation carefully selected the recipient after assessing his consistent support for young people, his encouragement of dialogue and his efforts in fostering harmony among diverse communities.
He described Kauran Saminaka as a leader whose actions have inspired many youths to embrace peace, hard work and patriotism, adding that the organisation was proud to appoint him as its grand patron.
