KABIRU Adamu Abdullahi, a long-time ally of Kwankwasiyya leader and Vice-Presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Abdullahi, who had earlier and repeatedly sworn on the Qur’an to affirm his loyalty to Kwankwaso after parting ways with Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, announced his resignation from the NDC in a letter addressed to the party chairman of Kofar Ruwa Ward in Dala Local Government Area.
News Point Nigeria reports that Abdullahi said his decision to leave the NDC was driven by frustration over what he described as “failed promises” within the party, declaring that he would now support the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu under the APC.
“I have been with Kwankwaso for 29 years but have only benefited from failed promises. I will go to where I will be respected more,” Abdullahi said.
In his resignation letter, Abdullahi thanked the NDC for the opportunity given to him to serve, but announced his withdrawal from the party with immediate effect.
His defection to the APC marks a major political shift for the long-time Kwankwaso ally, who had previously publicly reaffirmed his loyalty to the former Kano State governor despite his differences with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
