OPERATIVES of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 20-year-old suspect, Saidu Adamu, with a staggering 785,000 capsules of Pregabalin weighing 669.425kg during a raid at Sabon Gari in the Kano metropolis.
News Point Nigeria reports that the development was contained in a statement issued by Femi Babafemi, Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja, on Sunday.
The statement also disclosed that a stop-and-search operation along the Zaria–Kano–Hadejia road led to the seizure of 1,700 tablets of diazepam concealed inside loaves of bread from a 28-year-old suspect, Habibu Sabitu.
According to the agency, a 51-year-old man, Chinedu Uzor, was similarly arrested at Katako Market in Jos, Plateau State, with 157,100 capsules of tramadol.
The statement said the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), commended the successes recorded by the operatives and urged them to sustain the ongoing balanced approach to the Agency’s drug control efforts.
Marwa charged the operatives to continue shutting down every pipeline being used by drug cartels, whether at the airports, seaports, land borders or in the hinterland where cannabis is cultivated.
