PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary election conducted in Plateau State, recording a sweeping victory across all 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
News Point Nigeria reports that Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, who served as the Returning Officer for the exercise, officially announced the results on Saturday night in Jos after the completion of voting and collation.
Declaring the outcome of the primary election, Governor Mutfwang disclosed that President Tinubu secured a total of 242,023 votes, defeating his challenger, Mr. Tunde Osifo, who polled 303 votes.
According to the governor, the figures represented the cumulative votes collated from all the 17 Local Government Areas in the state.
“By the powers vested in me as the Returning Officer for the APC presidential primary election in Plateau State, I hereby certify this as the official summary of votes collated from the 17 Local Government Areas,” Mutfwang declared.
The governor commended members of the ruling party for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise, describing the process as transparent, credible, and a reflection of the democratic maturity of APC supporters in the state.
He also praised party faithful for their discipline, unity, and massive participation throughout the primary election process.
The exercise witnessed a significant turnout of APC members across Plateau State, as thousands of supporters reportedly came out to endorse President Tinubu as the party’s preferred candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At Federal Government College, Jos the designated voting centre for Jos North Local Government Area party supporters were seen forming long queues from the early hours of the day.
Many of the supporters waved voting slips, chanted solidarity songs, and openly expressed support for the President and his re-election bid.
Across various voting centres in the state, the atmosphere remained peaceful and celebratory, underscoring what party leaders described as growing confidence in the leadership and vision of President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 polls.
