‘Not Yet But Soon’, PDP Admits Presence Of Moles, Says Focus Is On Stability, Not Sanctions

THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has admitted that some of its members are fraternising with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) but said it has chosen not to sanction them for now, prioritising unity and stability ahead of its national convention and the 2027 general elections.

    BORNO PATRIOTS

News Point Nigeria reports that Debo Ologunagba, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, made the disclosure on Monday in Abuja while addressing journalists on the party’s preparations for its elective National Convention scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan.

“Today, we know and we must admit that there are people within our fold who are dining with the APC. We know that and we can’t pretend about that. They will manifest their shenanigans to ensure that we’re not focused on what we’re doing.

“That’s why they’re jittery because they’ve seen that, figuratively, the train of the convention is already in Ibadan,” Ologunagba said.

The spokesperson accused such members of trying to sabotage the party, noting that they had made promises to external forces. However, he maintained that the PDP remained strong and united despite the distractions.

“We are committed, we’re strong, we’re focused. Yes, we have challenges, but we will resolve them. One thing is clear: you do not have control over what happens to you in this world, but you do have control over how you respond to what happens to you.

“So, we are responding appropriately because there’s a bigger goal ahead,” he added.

Ologunagba stressed that Nigerians were eagerly awaiting the convention, which he said would produce a credible and renewed National Working Committee (NWC) capable of piloting the party’s affairs toward the 2027 elections.

On preparations for the convention, he explained that the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms, which began on September 3 and closed on September 22, had attracted several aspirants. Consultations with party leaders are ongoing.

He said the party’s organising committee extended the deadline for submission of completed forms and the screening of aspirants to allow for more consultation and consensus-building. “As earlier announced, new dates for the exercise will be communicated in due course,” he added.

The PDP also confirmed that congresses have been successfully concluded in Lagos, Oyo, Ondo, Edo, Adamawa, Borno, Niger, and Kogi States, while Ekiti is ongoing. In Cross River, Plateau, and Kebbi States, congresses were postponed.

“In the case of Cross River and Plateau States, where the tenure of the Executive has expired, the PDP NWC will constitute a caretaker committee to run the affairs of the party. Currently, for Cross River State, the South-South Zonal Caretaker Committee is overseeing the chapter,” Ologunagba explained.

He reassured Nigerians that the PDP remains the country’s best hope for credible leadership and that the convention would reinforce its resolve to reclaim power in 2027.
