GOMBE State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has congratulated the Government and people of Bauchi State on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its creation, describing the milestone as a moment of pride, reflection and renewed commitment to collective progress.
In further demonstration of solidarity and the strong bond between both states, Governor Inuwa Yahaya sent a high-level delegation, headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, to participate in the Bauchi at 50 golden jubilee celebrations in Bauchi.
The Governor, in a goodwill message to commemorate the golden jubilee, said the celebration holds profound historical and emotional significance for the people of Gombe, noting that Bauchi and Gombe are bound by enduring ties of heritage, culture and shared destiny.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya recalled that when Bauchi State was created in 1976, Gombe was an integral part of it, and for two decades, both peoples operated under a common administrative framework, pursued shared aspirations and upheld same vision for development.
“Even after the creation of Gombe State in 1996, the bonds of kinship, shared history and common values have remained unbroken, continually reminding us that we are brothers and sisters united by a collective heritage and destiny,” he said.
The Governor commended Bauchi State for the significant strides recorded over the past five decades, particularly in governance, infrastructure development, education, agriculture and human capital development.
He observed that the golden jubilee provides an opportunity to honour the vision, sacrifices and enduring legacies of the founding fathers whose foresight laid the foundations for the state’s growth, stability and resilience.
He also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of illustrious sons and daughters of Gombe State who played significant roles in the formative years of Bauchi State, stressing that their efforts remain an integral part of the shared history and collective legacy of both states.
The Governor reiterated the robust partnership between Bauchi and Gombe States, especially in addressing contemporary development challenges in key sectors such as agriculture, education, trade, security, youth empowerment and infrastructure.
He emphasised that sustained inter-state cooperation remains vital to overcoming cross-border challenges and unlocking shared opportunities for inclusive growth and prosperity.
“Our enduring collaboration reflects the spirit of unity that binds our people and strengthens our determination to work together in building a more prosperous, peaceful and inclusive future,” he added.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya prayed for sustained peace, unity and progress in Bauchi State, expressing optimism that the golden jubilee would herald a renewed era of service, innovation and accelerated development.
On behalf of the Government and people of Gombe State, he extended warm felicitations to the Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed, CON, and to all citizens of the state on the historic occasion.
“May the next fifty years usher in even greater achievements, enduring prosperity and sustainable development for Bauchi State and its people,” the Governor prayed.
