MARYAM Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano, has recorded another significant milestone following the grant of Full Accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC) to four of its new academic programmes, namely Public Health, Data Science, Information Systems and Law.
According to the MAAUN website, the full Accreditation granted to the programmes marks another major achievement for the university and further strengthens its growing academic profile within Nigeria’s higher education sector.
The approval was formally conveyed to the management of MAAUN in an official letter dated April 7, 2026, and signed by the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission.
According to the letter, the accreditation exercise conducted by the commission in October and November 2025 approved the listed programmes with Full Accreditation status.
The accredited programmes include Public Health under the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Under the Computing category, the programmes granted Full Accreditation are Data Science and Information Systems.
The Law programme was also granted Full Accreditation by the commission.
The university explained that the Full Accreditation status signifies that the affected programmes have successfully met the required national standards in curriculum content, infrastructure, staffing, learning resources and overall academic delivery.
With the latest development, MAAUN now has a total of 19 academic programmes with Full Accreditation status from the National Universities Commission.
The management of the university expressed appreciation to the Founder of the MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, for his continued support and commitment to the institution, which it said contributed immensely to the latest success recorded by the university.
The institution also reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the provision of quality education aimed at producing graduates capable of competing favourably with their counterparts across the globe.
