THE All Progressives Congress has disqualified four alleged loyalists of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara from participating in the House of Representatives primaries scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026.
News Point Nigeria reports that the development was contained in the final list of aspirants released by the party and confirmed in a statement signed by the Rivers State APC Publicity Secretary, Chibike Ikenga, on Friday in Port Harcourt.
Among those disqualified are two serving members of the House of Representatives, Awaji-Inombek Abiante and Boma Goodhead.
Abiante is regarded as one of the prominent Rivers politicians who purchased the governorship nomination form for Governor Fubara during the last election cycle.
The other aspirants not cleared by the party are retired Air Commodore John Opera and Hon. Anderson Igbiki.
Meanwhile, 21 aspirants, including the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, were cleared by the party to contest the primaries.
Amaewhule, who is contesting for the Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency seat, is seeking to replace his kinsman and Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda.
The statement issued by Ikenga was titled, “Final List of Aspirants for the House of Representatives Primary Election for Saturday, 16th May, 2026.”
According to him, the final list was released by the national leadership of the APC, while aspirants were advised to comply with the decision of the party.
