DAVID Shikfu Parradang, a retired Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, has been tragically killed by kidnappers in Abuja.
News Point Nigeria gathered that Parrillo, was abducted in Area 1, Abuja, in the early hours of Tuesday after being trailed from a bank where he had withdrawn money.
Report indicated that the unknown assailants took the cash from him before killing him in cold blood.
The unfortunate incident has raised new concerns about security in the Federal Capital Territory, particularly regarding the rising incidents of kidnappings and targeted attacks.
A source who verified the incident to News Point Nigeria expressed sorrow, saying, “It is sad to hear that our Brother David Parradang was shot and killed yesterday. May his gentle soul rest in peace.”
Parradang spent over 30 years in public service at the Nigerian Immigration Service having worked across the country in Kano, Lagos, Kwara, Enugu and the Federal Capital Territory as well as attending courses in-country and internationally.
In recognition of his service, he was awarded the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) and was a distinguished graduate of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
Security agencies have reportedly launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his abduction and killing, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.
The Nigerian Immigration Service is yet to confirm the tragic development but an official at Immigration headquarters in Abuja said it is true.
“The report is true but we need to wait for Immigration authorities to make official publication,” a former colleague of Parradang said.
All efforts to reach the Abuja police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh proved abortive as text messages and calls were not responded to as at the time of filing this report.
