PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to remain united, resilient, and hopeful despite prevailing economic and security challenges, assuring that his administration is making steady progress toward national recovery and prosperity.
In his 2026 Easter message sent to News Point Nigeria on Friday, the President extended warm greetings to Christians across Nigeria and the world, noting that the season symbolises sacrifice, redemption, and the triumph of hope over adversity.
Tinubu said the Easter celebration, which commemorates the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, offers a powerful reminder of the redemptive power of sacrifice and faith.
According to him, the message of Easter resonates deeply with Nigeria’s current situation, as the country navigates economic strain and security concerns while pursuing reforms aimed at long-term stability.
“This season reminds us of sacrifice, resilience, and the triumph of light over darkness,” the President stated, adding that these values are critical as Nigeria works through its present challenges.
The President acknowledged that insecurity remains a major concern in parts of the country but emphasised that his administration is intensifying efforts to tackle threats posed by terrorism and banditry.
He commended the efforts of the Armed Forces, noting their sacrifices in protecting the nation, and revealed that the government is strengthening security operations through increased funding and international partnerships.
Tinubu also referenced his recent visit to Jos in Plateau State, where he met with residents affected by violence, expressing solidarity and assuring them of improved security.
“The leaders of our security institutions have given strong assurances of progress,” he said, adding that support from foreign partners is already contributing to ongoing operations.
The President stressed the importance of unity and collective responsibility, urging Nigerians to support lawful efforts to maintain peace and reject divisive forces.
“No nation can thrive where fear prevails, and no progress can be sustained without peace,” he said.
He further called on citizens to be their “brother’s keeper” and contribute actively to national development.
Addressing economic concerns, Tinubu acknowledged that ongoing reforms may be challenging in the short term but insisted they are necessary for sustainable growth.
“The ongoing reforms… are carefully put together and backed by a strong commitment to take us to shared prosperity,” he stated.
He reiterated that meaningful transformation often requires sacrifice, expressing confidence that the country is on the right path, with positive economic indicators emerging.
With the country gradually approaching another electoral cycle, the President urged political actors to conduct themselves responsibly and in accordance with the Electoral Act.
He emphasised the need for peaceful participation, maturity, and a commitment to national stability, noting that democracy thrives on accountability and informed engagement.
Despite the current pressures faced by many Nigerians, Tinubu expressed optimism about the future, assuring citizens that brighter days lie ahead.
“A new dawn is on the horizon,” he declared, urging Nigerians to remain steadfast and continue supporting his administration’s efforts.
He concluded his message by thanking Nigerians for their trust and support, pledging to continue working toward a stronger, more prosperous, and secure nation.
“I enjoin you to keep the faith and never cease to contribute to the progress and greater future we seek,” the President said.
The President wished all Nigerians a happy and peaceful Easter celebration.
