THE Super Falcons camp in Ikenne, Ogun State, has begun to gather momentum with the arrival of 11 players as of Tuesday evening ahead of the team’s double-header international friendlies against Senegal, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
News Point Nigeria Sport report leading the early arrivals are six-time African Player of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, Serie A Women’s Best Defender Shukurat Oladipo, and Turkey-based Kafayat Shittu, who were among the first players to report to camp on Monday.
The camp received a further boost on Tuesday as eight more players checked in to continue preparations for the upcoming encounters.
Among those who arrived on Tuesday were Nottingham Forest Women striker Joy Omewa, Galatasaray defender Tosin Demehin, midfielder Toni Payne, Blessing Nkor, China-based Folashade Ijamilusi, goalkeeper Anderline Mgbechi, experienced midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene, and AS Roma striker Omorinsola Babajide.
Head Coach Justine Madugu had earlier invited 23 players for the friendly matches, which form part of Nigeria’s preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) scheduled to hold in Morocco from July 25 to August 16.
The Super Falcons, who are Africa’s most successful women’s national team with 10 continental titles, have been drawn in Group C of the tournament alongside Egypt, Zambia, and debutants Malawi.
As part of their build-up to the championship, the Falcons will take on Senegal in the first friendly match on Friday, June 5, before facing the same opponents again on Monday, June 8.
Both matches are slated for the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State.
Officials expect more invited players to arrive in camp in the coming days as preparations intensify ahead of the two international friendlies and the continental tournament in Morocco.
