A CIVIL Society group known as the Coalition of Civil Society OrganizationsOn Budget, Accountability and Good Governance has condemned what it calls unnecessary distraction of the Governor of the Central Bank Godwin Emefiele.
The group in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja said it is mobilising Nigerians to resist the blackmails against the apex bank chief whom they described as a great performer.
The statement which was signed by its Director General Amb. Dr. Emmanuel Nkweke and Director of Mobilisation Comrade John Davidson decried the activities of those he described as enemies of Nigeria who are seriously bent on destabilizing the Nigerian economy through agents of darkness.
While applauding the CBN on its reforms in the financial sector, the Coalition particularly hailed the introduction of new naira notes describing it as one of the best things to happen to the country.
He said, “Nobody would have known the level of sabotage which some Nigerians have subjected our country to if not for this positive step by the CBN ably led by Godwin Emefiele.
“You can imagine how people store up money that should be used for productive ventures in their houses and the worse is that these cash gets spoilt without benefitting anybody. Why else should any reasonable human being be fighting such good work that has exposed these economic saboteurs?”
The Coalition also called on security agencies to step up and uncover those who are behind the Aboki FX because according to them, their activities is becoming a huge embarrassment to the Nigerian people and it’s economy.
The group added that, the problems of foreign exchange is not caused by the CBN rather, it said it is caused by activities of enemies of Nigeria as well as some BDCs.
It commended the EFCC for raiding those BDCs while urging them to do more to protect the Nigerian economy.
“Thr Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC did well when it raided some of those BDCs hoarding foreign currencies.
“It should do more inorder to expose the economic saboteurs who are bent on destroying our economy for their selfish gains. Emefiele is not the problem rather, they are the problem and it behoves all well meaning Nigerians to join hands in resisting their antics”, the statement concluded.
