SUSPECTED terrorists on Saturday launched an attack on Tsamiya community in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State, setting several structures ablaze, including a security checkpoint belonging to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), a local brothel and a residential building.
News Point Nigeria reports that the attackers also abducted a resident, identified as Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare, during the raid on the community.
Confirming the incident in a statement, the Public Relations Officer of the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman, said the armed attackers invaded Tsamiya and carried out the assault before fleeing the area.
According to the police spokesman, the suspected terrorists set fire to an NSCDC security checkpoint, a local brothel and the residence of one Sule Mai Goge, causing damage to property within the community.
He disclosed that Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare was kidnapped during the attack and taken away by the assailants.
SP Usman said the police command had responded swiftly to the incident by deploying tactical personnel to Tsamiya town to strengthen security and pursue those responsible for the attack.
Following the deployment, security operatives commenced coordinated efforts aimed at restoring normalcy, securing the area and preventing further attacks on residents.
The police spokesman added that a comprehensive investigation into the incident had already commenced.
He noted that security agencies were working to rescue the abducted victim and track down the perpetrators behind the attack.
According to the command, efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped resident while bringing those responsible for the assault to justice.
The latest attack highlights continuing security concerns in parts of Kebbi State, with security agencies intensifying operations to protect communities and curb criminal activities across the region.
